The Project
Domis Utilities delivered the integrated utilities package for Glassworks from early works to handover. Our scope covered service disconnections, temporary utility supplies to maintain momentum during construction and the full coordination of permanent water and electrical connections sized for multi tenant occupation. Technical delivery included the installation of a new high voltage substation and the management of complex offsite works to bring resilient capacity into a constrained city location. All activities were sequenced with the main works to protect the programme and ensure timely energisation.
Our approach is permit first and programme led. Strong relationships with local authorities and statutory providers brought approvals forward and reduced risk on the critical path. One accountable team managed design, installation, testing and commissioning so that handoffs were removed and right first time outcomes were achieved. This city centre expertise ensured safe delivery, minimal disruption around the site and a clean transition from temporary to permanent services.
The occupier experience is supported by reliable power and water infrastructure throughout the building. Tenants benefit from inspiring offices, lounges and collaborative spaces, along with practical facilities such as secure bike storage and spacious, high end shower and changing rooms. Glassworks retains a clear sense of history, tradition and place while offering refined interiors and smart layouts that suit contemporary ways of working.
By installing the HV substation, coordinating permanent connections and managing temporary supplies, Domis Utilities provided programme certainty and seamless delivery for Glassworks Manchester. The result is a modern workplace that combines restored character with future ready utilities, positioned at the gateway to the Northern Quarter and designed to perform for years to come.
