The Project
Domis Utilities served as the integrated utilities partner from early works to final connection, providing programme certainty on a complex high rise scheme. Our delivery covered full service disconnections, a temporary builders supply to maintain productivity, new water networks sized for the completed development and the coordination of permanent electricity and water connections to support commissioning and occupation.
The technical scope included installation of a new high voltage substation, a new high pressure gas connection, a 33kV cable diversion and the coordination of a BT telecoms diversion. These activities were sequenced with the main build and integrated into the wider scheme so that critical path milestones were protected and energisation dates were achieved.
Our approach is permit first and programme led. Strong relationships with local authorities, the DNO, gas transporter, water undertaker and telecoms providers brought approvals forward and reduced risk around street works and offsite interfaces. One accountable team managed design, isolation, metering, inspections, testing and commissioning to remove handoffs, minimise disruption in a constrained city centre location and ensure right first time outcomes.
The result is reliable, future ready utilities that underpin Obsidian’s homes and amenities from day one. By delivering the high voltage substation, high pressure gas connection, 33kV diversion, telecoms diversion, water networks, temporary supplies and permanent connections on time and within budget, Domis Utilities enabled a seamless transition from construction to operation and reinforced our commitment to utilities without uncertainty in Manchester.
