The Project
The development is designed for contemporary city living and long term value. Residents benefit from a lifestyle that blends access to the river corridor with quick connections to Manchester’s business, education and leisure hubs. The setting supports active travel, everyday services and a strong community offer, positioning Silkbank Wharf as an attractive investment and a high quality home.
Domis Utilities acted as the integrated utilities partner from early works to handover, managing all utility related activities to protect the programme and budget. Our scope covered service disconnections, temporary power and temporary water to maintain productivity during construction, and the full coordination of permanent water and electrical connections sized for the completed development.
Technical delivery included the high voltage connection to the distribution network operator and the management of complex offsite works to bring resilient capacity to a constrained city centre site. We isolated and removed legacy services, installed permanent metered supplies and sequenced testing, inspection and commissioning to ensure a clean transition from temporary to permanent services.
Our approach is permit first and programme led. Strong relationships with local authorities and statutory providers brought approvals forward and reduced risk on the critical path. One accountable team coordinated design, installation, energisation and handover so that handoffs were removed and right first time outcomes were achieved.
The result is programme certainty, faster energisation and reliable day one operation for residents and building management. Permanent water and power now underpin the apartments, amenity spaces and shared areas, enabling a modern waterfront lifestyle at Silkbank Wharf.
Domis Utilities delivers utilities without uncertainty for complex residential projects across Manchester and the North, aligning permits, temporary strategies and permanent connections to keep city centre schemes on time and on budget.
